The Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF) is a premier nonprofit educational and tennis organization for underserved children in Washington, D.C. We engage students in productive activities that teach discipline, build confidence, improve school performance, and encourage a healthy lifestyle and lifelong fitness.
 
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President is responsible for leading WTEF’s strategy, operations, staff, programs, and funding in support of its mission. The ideal candidate is a seasoned nonprofit executive with successful experience leading a youth-serving organization.  S/he will possess an entrepreneurial point of view with particular strengths in operations, partnership development, and fundraising.  The President must possess a passion for WTEF’s mission, a commitment to innovation, and exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vision and strategy: Lead WTEF’s strategic direction; collaborate with staff, Board, and key stakeholders to set clear goals aligned with the organization’s mission
  • Operations and financial management: Oversee the successful execution of WTEF’s day-to-day operations, including financial management, reporting, and compliance
  • Team leadership and culture: Manage and mentor WTEF’s talented team; create a collaborative culture where excellence and team-work are encouraged and rewarded
  • Partnership and team relationship management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Board members, funders, community partners, staff, the ATP, DC government, and the National Park Service
  • Resource development: Meet WTEF’s annual fundraising goals; manage existing funding relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations; generate new revenue from diverse sources
  • Communications: Serve as the principal spokesperson and proactively build awareness of the organization’s brand, programs, and impact 
Requirements
  • Demonstrated passion for and commitment to WTEF’s tennis and education mission
  • Experience in a senior leadership role at a nonprofit organization
  • Proven fundraising experience, including the ability to identify, solicit, and secure new funders
  • Ability to recruit, motivate, encourage, and develop a professional staff
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • A track record of creating and implementing innovative solutions that transform an organization
  • A commitment to a high level of personal and professional integrity
