Position Summary
The Sr. Director Talent Management and Strategy reports to the Chief Operating Officer for Advancement (COO) and serves as a member of the Office of Advancement (OA) leadership team. This is a senior management position and the Sr. Director is responsible for the strategy and oversight of the OA Talent Management function.  The incumbent will have broad authority to shape, build, and manage the OA’s talent, ensuring the OA’s success through the University’s ambitious capital campaign.  
As the chief talent officer and leader of the talent management team, this position serves as an advisor to the Vice President of Advancement and COO, and provides organizational leadership on talent strategy.  This position has comprehensive oversight for talent management strategy and is responsible for creating a comprehensive talent management infrastructure to include: organizational development, engagement/retention and culture, talent acquisition and onboarding, and talent development. This position requires exercising independent judgment, discretion, and the highest level of confidentiality. The Sr. Director Talent Management and Strategy will work collaboratively with senior OA leaders to foster a performance culture that promotes high-performance, respect, mutual accountability, integrity, stewardship, and service excellence to advance the university.
The Sr. Director will shape a diverse community of high-performing professionals who bring passion, expertise and superior service to their work in connecting alumni, donors and constituents within the university community. Additionally, the Sr. Director will serve as an advisor, strategist, and facilitator of organizational initiatives helping to set and operationalize organizational strategy and drive strategic goals.
The Sr. Director will oversee a team of direct reports: human resource officers (2), talent acquisition manager, learning and development manager, and administrator.
  • Bachelors’ degree in organizational development and design/talent management, talent acquisition or an appropriate area of specialization
  • Eight to ten years of experience providing leadership and oversight of talent management function and organizational development functions
  • Proven success in a complex organization and prior experience in higher education required. Experience in working within an advancement organization is strongly preferred.
  • Proven success in a leadership role; excellent planning and project management skills; and the ability to lead, influence and motivate others are required.
  • Must be an outstanding communicator and possess excellent communication skills; interpersonal skills; the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with a diverse constituency; organizational skills; a customer service-oriented attitude.
  • A high level of discretion is required; work environment is sensitive and highly confidential. 
  • Strong information systems orientation, including extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and applicable software systems, as well as the ability to navigate internal and external databases/web interfaces to perform applicable research.
