Position Summary

Georgetown Visitation is seeking a seasoned fundraising executive to lead all aspects of the school's development program, including the Capstone Phase of its capital campaign, "A Cherished Past, A Vibrant Future."  Reporting to and working in close collaboration with the Head of School, the Senior Director must be a results-oriented leader with a proven ability to cultivate strong donor relationships and a demonstrated record of securing multiple six- and seven-figure gifts. The Senior Director will manage, mentor, and coach a talented team of five development professionals and work collaboratively with colleagues across the school community.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create and promote a strong case for philanthropy for Georgetown Visitation; serve as a representative of the school to diverse audiences;
  • Design and implement the short- and long-term development strategies of the school to meet established goals; with the Head of School and senior leadership, identify funding needs and strategic approaches to advance development initiatives;
  • Provide daily management of the development staff, including establishing annual goals to support both the overall objectives of the Campaign and the school’s operational goals;
  • Serve as Campaign Director for the Capstone Phase of the capital campaign, providing direct management and support of staff to meet specific goals in securing major and leadership gifts for the campaign;
  • Develop and maintain key long-term relationships with both donors and prospects; effectively communicate Visitation's needs to a broad array of interests;
  • Provide regular reports to the Head of School and Board of Directors on the progress of all development efforts;
  • Oversee management of gift processing and donor acknowledgements and the donor database; work collaboratively with the Finance Office on all relevant reporting;
  • Conduct research to identify high capacity donors; work collaboratively with the Senior Director of External Relations to ensure successful special events on campus that are instrumental to fundraising efforts (Esprit, Gala, Vespers, Reunions);
  • Partner with the Senior Director of External Relations to execute a broad base stewardship program that thanks and recognizes all donors;
  • Experience successfully leading a development department, managing a staff of at least three professionals, and overseeing a large ($10M+) capital campaign;
  • A proven ability to cultivate strong relationships with diverse donors and secure six- and seven-figure gifts;
  • A gift for creatively capturing and telling stories of donor impact;
  • Adept at balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment;
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to excellence and success;
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
