At Share Our Strength we are aware of the many ways that injustice impacts our staff and partners in the field, and we recognize the systemic connections between poverty, racism, and hunger. We believe we have an imperative to leverage our program strategy and initiatives to confront and address the systemic issues that lead to hunger. We are looking for a Senior Vice President to support these efforts.
Reporting to the President and CEO, The Senior Vice President, Family Economic Opportunity is a new executive-level position focused on generating and implementing innovative solutions to ending hunger and poverty in the U.S. and abroad. This position will build and lead a team that works collaboratively across the organization to design creative initiatives and programs that practically respond to emerging needs. For example, we believe the 2021 Child Tax Credit has tremendous potential to significantly reduce childhood hunger and poverty. The SVP, Family Economic Opportunity will lead our work to determine how Share Our Strength can best leverage its national platform and networks to ensure every eligible family is aware of and signs up for the credit. In addition to the Child Tax Credit this individual will work to build out a national strategy and suite of benefits for families. This person will lead cross functional collaboration to ensure alignment in strategy to the broader No Kid Hungry campaign and in partnership with stakeholders, develop plans, metrics and goals for this work.
Top candidates will bring both a strategic mindset and practical experience building high-impact social movements and campaigns. They will bring a proven record of collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders and a demonstrated ability to hire, develop and lead a unified team. This position will be based in Washington, DC.
Range for offers: $200,000- $240,000
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Innovation: Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify new opportunities to achieve even greater impact in support of our mission to end hunger and poverty.
- Strategy and Project Management: Define a clear set of outcomes, success metrics, and plan for the team overall and individual projects/initiatives and develop a strategy for national partnerships
- Team Leadership: Build, lead, and develop a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative team that reflects Share Our Strength’s mission and core values
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner internally with existing program teams to support innovation and growth.
- External Partnerships: Identify new external partners that will increase our network and opportunity for impact; thoughtfully and respectfully nurture these relationships for mutual benefit.
- Strategic mindset: Proven experience designing and leading innovative solutions to large-scale problems
- Execution: Highly proficient at project planning, budgeting, and managing toward deadlines; able to adapt planning as needed to achieve outcomes.
- Leadership: A proven ability to hire, develop and retain top talent and build a diverse, cohesive, inclusive, values-driven, and high-performing team.
- Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to cultivate, grow, and manage positive, mutually beneficial relationships within the organization, as well as with other organizations or businesses. Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges, underscored by strong judgement and emotional intelligence.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to translate ideas to a range of internal and external audiences.
- Collaboration: An eagerness to listen, learn from, and engage with various stakeholders; an appreciation for “going farther by going together.”
- Entrepreneurial spirit: An ability to generate creative and actionable ideas for solving problems; an appetite for experimentation and flexibility to adapt to change.
- Equity, Diversity and Inclusion-. A deep understanding of the anti-hunger and anti-poverty space. Lived experience is a plus with a minimum of 15+ years of work experience, in designing, developing, and leading the execution of measurable and scalable programs and initiatives
