Overall Responsibility
:   Reporting to the Global Health (GH) Lead, supports the planning, development, and administration of Crown Family Philanthropies’ (CFP) Global Health portfolio.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Planning and strategy:
  • Support Global Health Lead to implement strategic direction for the Global Health portfolio. Assist with strategic development and/or data analysis for assigned portfolio areas
  • Engage with Committee Chair, Associate Chair, and Global Health Lead on meeting planning and learning opportunities for the Global Health committee
Grantmaking and grant-cycle management:
  • Manage development and production of assigned GH Committee materials for grantmaking and strategy meetings, including grant summaries, progress reports, grants dockets, budget materials, meeting minutes, and additional content as assigned; involve Operations Team as appropriate
  • In consultation with GH Lead, review nonprofit financial statements and operational conditions to determine organizational strength and effectiveness
  • Assist with proposal review, site visits and vetting of proposals
  • Manage multiple deadlines in the proposal review and meeting preparation process
  • Communicate with grantees to track and assess outcomes measures; collaborate with GH Lead on metrics and evaluation planning and implementation
  • Review grantee progress reports and work with GH Lead to determine if grant requirements have been met
  • Attend Global Health Committee meetings and take leading role for agenda items as assigned
  • Participate in sector collaborations to enhance understanding of emerging developments in relevant fields
  • Manage communications with assigned grantees and, as appropriate, with family members
  • Provide administrative support needed by GH Lead to facilitate grantmaking and grant oversight
Research and Writing:
  • Prepare assigned write-ups and other materials needed for Foundation review of funding requests
  • Coordinate with GH Lead to conduct landscape analyses of potential grantmaking areas and prepare written summaries, including the role of the primary organizations in the field and opportunities for philanthropic impact
  • Research issues of interest to the GH Committee and prepare memoranda outlining primary findings and alignment with the Foundation’s areas of interest
CFP Team Activities:
  • Participate in cross-functional teams that advance organizational aims around social impact and family engagement
  • Engage in initiatives that foster team collaboration, including meetings, trainings, retreats, and special projects, taking the lead where interest, expertise, and opportunity coalesce

  • Ability to review and analyze nonprofit financials
  • Superb organizational and project management skills, including ability to prioritize agendas and manage conflicting needs
  • Ability to work and problem-solve independently and in groups
  • Ability to stay on track, progress on work, and communicate effectively while manager is off-site
  • Interest in and ability to learn about new topics and master new skills
  • Ability to think and implement at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including ability to ask effective questions, listen, observe, and synthesize multiple inputs with sensitivity, diplomacy, and professionalism
  • Excellent judgment, discretion and professionalism
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office; knowledge of database systems a plus
  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience in a foundation and/or non-profit sector, working on program-related issues; significant knowledge and experience working or facilitating initiatives in Global Health, or closely related field
  • Experience in a field role (internationally) a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required; Master’s degree or commensurate experience a plus
