Position Summary
The Director of the Visitation Salesian Network (VSN) is a collaborative, mission-centered leader who partners with the three Visitation schools in the United States, Georgetown (Washington, D.C.), St. Louis, Missouri, and Mendota Heights, Minnesota, to nurture the Visitation Sisters' founding philosophy of educating minds and hearts through the Gospel-based Salesian Spirituality of St. Francis de Sales and St. Jane de Chantal.
 
About the Visitation Salesian Network
For more than thirty-five years, the VSN has cultivated formation programming and strengthened connections among its member schools. As the number of Visitation Sisters of Holy Mary (VHM) continues to decline, this collaborative work has grown increasingly vital: the Network helps students and adults across the three schools learn, experience, and live out the Salesian charism, carrying forward its deeply relational spirit.
 
Primary Responsibilities

Leadership & Network Coordination
  • Build and sustain relationships across the three schools to strengthen shared mission and Salesian identity
  • Lead the five-year Salesian Assessment process and guide network-wide goal setting
  • Facilitate collaboration among Charism Directors and coordinate regular VSN meetings
  • Maintain connection with the Visitation Archivists Consortium
Program Oversight & Formation
  • Mentor Charism Directors and other VSN leaders
  • Develop formation materials and maintain the VSN website
  • Support VISTORY, the annual service week, and the Salesian Leadership Camp
  • Lead student pilgrimages to Annecy, France, on a recurring cycle
Communication & Outreach
  • Share spiritual reflections tied to the liturgical calendar and Visitation traditions
  • Represent the VSN within the North American Salesian Network and alongside the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales
  • Engage with broader Catholic education networks
Financial & Administrative Oversight
  • Oversee the annual report, budget, and financial administration
Position Details
  • Part-time, 20-24 hours per week; paid as a 1099 consultant
  • Fully remote, with occasional overnight travel (primarily September, October, March, and June)
  • Residence near one of the three Visitation school communities preferred
 
Qualifications & Competencies
  • Practicing Catholic with a commitment to ongoing formation in Salesian Spirituality
  • Demonstrated leadership in Catholic education, mission integration, or mission-driven nonprofit work
  • Experience with strategic planning, spiritual formation, and program development
  • Strong relational, communication, and facilitation skills; able to build trust and collaboration across stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Visitation schools' educational structure preferred
  • Master's degree in theology, pastoral ministry, education, or a related field preferred
