POSITION SUMARY:

We are looking for an experienced leader to join United Way Worldwide’s Digital Services team as Senior Director of Operations. The primary functions of this position include project and program management, budget and timeline management, team and partner coordination and resource allocation, and process evaluation and improvement. The Senior Director of Operations position requires a sufficient breadth and depth of expertise in digital engagement capabilities – creative and technology – to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to successfully deliver solutions for use by our network of local United Ways.
 
The Senior Director of Operations manages complex, multi-track projects or small-scale programs to an acceptable level of risk by balancing scope, time, cost and quality while maintaining a positive environment that promotes individual development and high performance standards. Our ideal candidate uses advanced problem solving skills, business skills, solid verbal and written communication skills, excellent relationship building skills, as well as strong leadership and team management skills.  Additionally, he/she will have a solid understanding of project management tools and approaches to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects and the flexibility to lead diverse and dynamic teams to deliver balanced integrated solutions to our challenging business problems.
 
As a project management professional, you exhibit an extremely high level of ownership and assume full accountability for managing and delivering projects and programs requiring you to maintain a high-level perspective while diving into the details of any project, regardless of size and complexity. Driven by objectives and timelines, you’ll anticipate potential issues in order to mitigate risk and meet milestones—while keeping the entire project team focused and on track. The ability to form strong relationships with stakeholders, proactively manage risk, and facilitate high performing teams is essential in this role.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

PMO
  • Drive PMO initiatives related to quality, methodology, expertise, and tools
  • Execute project reviews for our diverse projects
  • Demonstrate thought leadership for PMO development and optimization
  • Facilitate executive conversations regarding budget, resources, schedule and risk
  • Commit to timely achievement and maintenance of required certification credentials
 
Client Management
  • Build exceptional client rapport and maximize customer satisfaction
  • Provide hands-on program and project management for multi-million dollar programs across geographically dispersed local United Ways
  • Exercise project leadership skills combined with strong business acumen and in-depth analytical skills
 
Team Management
  • Provide day-to-day management of digital services team
  • Create an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort
  • Provide the team with a vision of the project objectives
  • Motivate and inspire team members
  • Lead by setting a good example (role model) – behavior consistent with words
  • Recognize and celebrate team and team member accomplishments and exceptional performance
 
 
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of project management experience delivering technology services, creative agency services or business consulting services as a program or project manager in large, complex technical environments
  • Oversight of multiple $1M+ engagements
  • Experience delivering professional services for a digital creative agency
  • Experience with Agile SCRUM delivery practices
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with technical team members and clients
  • Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate meetings where you will articulate complex concepts
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional, matrix management environment with a highly collaborative, team oriented approach to problem solving
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively with a high level of attention to detail
  • Positive, energetic attitude to achieve great things
 
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS DESIRED:
  • Salesforce.com experience required; Marketing Cloud/ExactTarget experience a plus; experience in marketing automation a plus.
  • Software-as-a-Service experience (SaaS)/cloud computing
  • PMI PMP or similar certification/training; e.g. Scrum Master certification
  • Process development training and experience
