In this exciting period of growth and strategic development, Crown Family Philanthropies (CFP) is searching for a Strategy Analyst to support the development and implementation of strategic planning across the foundation’s priority impact areas.  This individual will play an essential role helping design key initiatives, shape tactical planning, and measure the impact of our efforts.  The Strategy Analyst will be part of a team committed to positive social change in Chicago and around the world.
Reporting to the CFP President in a supporting role, the Strategy Analyst will team with program staff across the organization to develop customized impact and measurement frameworks for our top priority initiatives, including conducting research and analysis to continually improve program design. This dynamic role requires an individual who is comfortable in a collaborative team environment, creative in their approach to strategy, and passionate about using metrics and analysis to further social good.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Help lead CFP’s overall strategic direction on an ongoing basis working closely with the President to embed the strategy across all aspects of the foundation and refine the strategy as new insights emerge
  • Support program staff as they develop and implement priority impact areas, assisting with framing, research, and analysis; ensure that grantmaking is aligned and outcomes are defined and measured; work with operations staff to tie strategic goals and approaches to technical requirements and processes
  • Work with CFP president to help identify and develop new CFP priority impact areas as appropriate
  • Work with program staff to help frame developments and progress in our priority areas in a manner that facilitates family engagement and decision-making
  • Work with program staff to develop methodologies for assessing impact of all grants in the portfolio, whether in a priority impact area or a broader commitment
  • Lead special projects and innovation sprints on an ad hoc basis
  • Keep informed of major trends, developments, and insights affecting any dimension of CFP’s social impact and engagement efforts
  • Maintain an understanding of relevant issues and developments in the field of strategic planning particularly as it applies to philanthropy and the non-profit sector
Skills and abilities:
  • Skilled in complex strategy development and supporting project implementation and management
  • Experience with various research methodologies and qualitative and quantitative analyses including developing rigorous, purpose driven measurement systems; strong overall data management and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, including the ability to listen and synthesize multiple perspectives and data sources; ability to bring clarity to complex issues, build consensus, and handle highly sensitive information
  • Demonstrated ability to help organizations set bold goals and implement tangible actions steps to achieve those goals
  • Superb organizational skills including ability to balance multiple priorities and prioritize agendas
  • Able to work and problem-solve independently and in groups
  • Familiarity with the nonprofit sector
  • Ability to thrive in a family-centered enterprise environment
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience required; advanced degree in business administration, information management, data analysis, or impact evaluation a plus 
  • At least 5 years of experience in strategic planning or management consulting, or equivalent, with a focus on planning, implementing, and analyzing new strategies
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector (including board service or volunteer work) or in family-based enterprises a plus
