RA5 is a dynamic, statewide program that improves the practice and quality of early childhood education in Maryland so that all children will be ready for school.  An influential leader in strengthening the early childhood education system throughout Maryland, RA5 believes that every child should have the foundational skills needed for success in school, career, and life. RA5 was founded in 1992 by six prominent organizations in Maryland in response to the first National Education Goal (“all children will enter school ready to learn.”) In 2002, RA5 became a Board-designated program of the MBRT, a founding partner of RA5.
Throughout its 25-year history, RA5 has defined its work based on research and evidence for high-quality early learning initiatives and focuses its resources on providing the biggest possible impact in improving educational outcomes for young children. We convene stakeholders, identify effective practices, support the work of partners, and apply our energies, products, and resources to the most challenged children, families, programs, schools and communities across the state of Maryland.
