Position Summary
Hire Heroes USA (HHUSA) is seeking a strategic, charismatic, mission-driven leader to serve as the next CEO. The CEO will build on the organization’s successful track record connecting veterans and military spouses to employment opportunities using a rigorous, data-driven approach while providing personalized support.
 
The CEO will be responsible for designing and guiding the vision and strategy for the organization and following through to ensure it is operationalized and executed successfully. Additionally, s/he will lead efforts to diversify funding, build partnerships with a diverse group of key stakeholders, continually improve processes, manage a national team, and serve with integrity as the public face of the organization.
 
The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with a demonstrated passion for serving military veterans, has experience crafting organizational strategy, and excellent relationship building skills. Further, s/he must be a team builder, effective communicator, and can efficiently manage operations.

HHUSA empowers U.S. military members, veterans and military spouses to succeed in the civilian workforce. Since inception, HHUSA has maintained a singular focus on veteran and military spouse employment. HHUSA provides free career coaching and job sourcing to hundreds of transitioning U.S. military members, veterans and military spouses each week. To date, HHUSA has confirmed more than 22,000 veterans and military spouses hired into careers. As a national nonprofit, HHUSA has 7 offices across the U.S. with a headquarters in Alpharetta, Georgia.
 
Responsibilities
  • Vision and Strategy: Lead HHUSA’s strategic direction; collaborate with Board, staff, and key stakeholders to set clear, data-driven goals and achieve HHUSA’s mission.
  • Team Leadership and Culture: Provide inspirational leadership and continue to build upon HHUSA’s collaborative culture that promotes growth, learning, and accountability.
  • Development: Maintain existing funder relationships and implement expanded funding strategies that generate new revenue from various sources including individual gifts, corporate partners, online platforms, and other non-traditional sources to ensure organizational sustainability and growth.
  • Communications: Serve as HHUSA’s principal spokesperson and passionate advocate as well as the veterans the organization serves.
  • Board Engagement: Collaborate with board members on organizational decision-making and recruit new board members to ensure diverse perspectives.
  • Operations and Financial Management: Oversee the successful execution of HHUSA’s day-to-day operations, including effective financial management, reporting, and compliance. The CFO and COO will both report to the CEO.
 
Qualifications
  • Strong connection to the military and a demonstrated passion for serving veterans
  • Experience in a senior leadership role with a demonstrated ability to manage the strategic, operational, and human capital needs of a national nonprofit
  • Experienced in fundraising, sales, or business development   
  • Demonstrated ability to find, retain, and cultivate strong collaborative partnerships
